Lake at the Commons Service and Community Picnic

The Tualatin Memorial Day ceremony is particularly family-friendly with its large lakeside Commons area for kids to explore and a community picnic at a nearby park afterward. Members of the Portland Model Powerboat Association run their boats on the lake. Before or after the ceremony be sure to walk over to Veterans Plaza on the east side of the lake. This beautiful addition to the Commons opened in Spring 2025. You’ll find a reflecting pool, seating, a labyrinth, a synthetic turf area, a story circle as well as art by Kentucky-based sculptor Douwe Blumberg.
